Authentic Original painting by W. P. Hollyer William Perring Hollyer (1834-1922). Painting sailboat and fishermen, ocean has white caps with rocky shoreline, singed lower right W.P. Hollyer 72, (1872). Painting would benefit from a cleaning Dimensions: Frame measuring 14.5” x 18.5” board measuring 7.5” x 11.5”. Original frame missing some gesso (see pics). William Perring Hollyer paintings are displayed at several museums in the United Kingdom including: Derby Museum and Warrington Museum. Born in Dover, Hollyer most likely learned the basics of his trade from his father, Joseph Hollyer, a successful Herald painter who made his living painting coats-of-arms on the carriages of aristocrats. He flourished in the late 19th century. A well-travelled artist, Hollyer specialized in landscapes and animals, especially the Highland scenes and cattle of Scotland.
