Stunning impressionist original oil, newsprint and gold leaf on canvas by well exhibited (see artist info below) prominent artist Mary Jarrett (American 1912-1983) who is featured in numerous museums and important collections . This particular work hung (was deaccessioned) at The Laguna Art Museum in California. Stunning mixed-media oil displays 'A View of the Great Buddha in Kamakura'. Well executed gold leaf on canvas painting shows great movement and wonderful vibrant color palate. Painting clearly signed at lower left. Comes professionally framed and in overall very nice condition. Much sought after artist- Painting shows artist skilled technique.

About the artist:
Mary Adolyn Jarrett was born in Seattle, WA on April 20, 1912. Mary married Egra M. Jarrett in the early 1930s. She graduated from the University of Washington and continued her art studies at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, Académie de la Grand Chaumière in Paris, and Slade School in London. She died in Los Angeles on Nov. 27, 1983. Her work includes portraits, landscapes, and oriental studies. Exh: Scandinavian-American Art Society, 1930s; Washington State Fair, 1933; Little Gallery (Seattle), 1936; Seattle Museum, 1938 (solo); San Francisco Art Association, 1938; Northwest PM, 1939, 1940; GGIE, 1940; Stendahl Gallery (LA), 1940; Calif. Art Club, 1943-67; Laguna Beach AA, 1943; Hartwell Gallery (LA), 1948; Hollywood.
