Large (17 7/8 inches) Authentic Pre-Columbian Colima Culture statue dating from Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. Fashioned in a stylized manor Redware pottery shaman figure holding staff. surface with strong mineral deposits and root marks. This rare variant is a distinctive type found only in the Pihuamo Valley, which is not technically in Colima. Pihuamo is geographically located at the extreme southeastern edge of Jalisco, just over the border of present day Colima. Pihuamo pottery figures are known for their warm red, highly burnished slips with cream-colored accents. They are typically very well sculpted with hollow-bodies and nicely proportioned Size: 10 1/4" W x 17 7/8" H (26.03 cm x 45.40 cm ) In nice but repaired at arm and staff condition-please see pictures.
