Rare Authentic Pre-Columbian Green Serpentine stone figure from Mezcala Culture of Ancient Mexico. This artifact dates from the Late Pre-Classic period circa 300-100B.C. Strong figure in Green stone, male figure with hands folded on belly,beautiful deeply incised facial feature and carved at string-cut feature on rest of the body. Piece approx. 2 inches tall, red cinnabar remnants are visible on back of piece. Old museum quality repair (see pics). This artifact is an exemplar of ancient Mesoamerican sculpture, impressive for its technique, iconography, and well as the inherent beauty of ancient stone-working.
