Exquisitely carved Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Borneo, Central Kalimantan, Mahakam River, Dayak peoples, Bahau ca. late 19th century. Wonderful stylized anthropomorphic figure, each hand-carved from wood exhibiting espresso brown hues. Old tribal piece displays seated figure in recognizably anthropomorphic form kneeling while its tongue drapes down to the middle of its chest. Spirit Piece displays large head, bulbous eyes and pointed ears. Figure has correct patina, weight and earthen deposits throughout befitting for its age. 10.9 inches in height

Provenance: Comes with certificate of authenticity from well respected gallery (where it was purchased) that deals in Antiquities. Further-ex-Stein collection, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Condition: very good. Great patina throughout-figure has old inventory label beneath the base.
