Very fine early Old Master oil painting, dating from the 18th Century. This work is very close to the hand, style and quality of the French master painter Charles-Louis Clerisseau. A pupil of Pannini, whose influence is very much shown in this painting, Clerisseau went onto become one of the leading architectural painters of his period. The work has exceptional detailing to the ruins, especially when considering its diminutive size. Presented in oval inset and period gilt frame of beautiful quality.
